The Canon Extender EF 2x III is an easy and relatively cheap way to double your telephoto range. The Canon Extender EF 2x III is also quite small and light. By putting the Extender between your telephoto lens and the camera, you reduce the field of view and bring everything closer. A Canon EF 70-200 mm f/2.8 L IS III USM thus becomes a 140-400
. Hi there, I am making a decision to buy one of these lenses for the EOS R, RF 70-200 or EF 70-200, and I need some suggestions badly. I am thinking of getting the EF mount for two reasons, the price and the possibility of adding a 2x teleconverter so that I can have a 140-400, as I read some posts suggesting it's quite impossible for Canon to make an extender for the mirrorless series

The lens you describe, the EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III which often comes in a kit with the EOS Rebel T7, is not compatible with either EF extender. The EF Extenders can only work with the lenses which have clearance in the back to allow space for the extender's protruding element to sit inside.
The teleconverters (TC) will multiply the focal length of any EF lens used with them by either 1.4x or 2x. So, a 300mm lens beomes a 420mm with a 1.4x TC and a 600mm lens with a 2x TC. Sounds great, but it comes at the cost of reduced maximum aperture and slowing of AF performance (typ. 50% for 1.4x and 75% for 2x).
1. 2X III works really well and maintain a reasonable sharpness only on Superteles, 100-400 II and on on 70-200 II and unfortunately not included the 100-400 I. It's a waste of money. kingfishers are one of the skittish creatures, it posts a challenge even with 600mm + 2x. If you use a 2x with 400, you may find the distance not usable as you
