Sep 1, 2013. #1. Have had my second hand 2011 Fiat 500 Lounge (manual petrol) for a few weeks now. have noticed that there is a gear shift indicator on the dash, but its never come on. Is this something that comes as standard, is it something i need to turn on ( if so where ) Cheers. S.
Assumed it was one of the door switches. Unplugged both of them and light stop on. Checked out wiring by fuse box. Looks like it's had an after market alarm fitted but not sure. Found the multiplug to the bottom left of the fuse box. Removed wires from one by one until the light went off. Assumed it would be green and white as per the wiring
Its not uncommon for a loose or corroded earth to cause the dash to re-set itself mid journey. If its only done it the once, I wouldnt be overly concerned just yet, but it wouldnt hurt for a a fiat dealer to check it out for you.
thanks Sweex, Claires EVO has the 3 x setting dials, and the buttons, the dials seem to function o.k., but nothing working with the buttons, could you post a pic of YOUR dash.. so we are talking about the same stuff, ; - ) thanks as always, Charlie
. While driving, the computer of your Fiat (ECU o PCM) monitors air/fuel supply and exhaust gases in order to verify that the engine is working properly. If any problem is detected, the check engine Light of your dashboard will turn on. Depending on the type of failure, the light may either blink or remain constantly lit.
rbrett312. So, I haven't had my 500x long. Today some messages popped up on my dash saying that I need to check my brake lights. It turns out that all of the lights on the rear left (passenger) side cluster aren't coming on. It is completely baffling me! The brake, indicator, and reverse lights on the back left aren't coming on.
One lead has no visible sign of any damage, but the spark is escaping out the side, the other does show the break in the rubber. Leave the plugs in place and just pull the lead, hold it sideways (Turn it to check all sides.) against the head, or you may even see the spark jumping inside the plug well. OP. S.
So i'd expect other dashboard related issues. LIke no fuel guage, no temperature guage, no little clock at bottom etc etc. 2 fuses tho are used to power it. F8 and F24, both 10amps. Id suspect a Communication problem or faulty dash. if no crank sensor wasn't working i;d say that was cause of dash - but engine runs yes?
